Sometimes You Just Let Him Go: Hosea 3

the mobile edition

Yes Everyone I just left him go.

A few weeks ago, my son and I went to the park for a little afternoon stroll.  One thing my son loves to do is run, and for a three year old with little legs he is pretty quick.  Well I let him get a away from me for a little bit just for the fun of it.  Keep in mind, when I took the picture I did not use the zoom button.  I let him get a little ways from me before I asked him to come back, and he did not get far enough away from me to where he could not hear the sound of my voice even though he is the master of selective hearing.

After I took the picture it reminded of how God is with me sometimes when I am not following.  He is never too far away from me, and He is right there for me to run back too.  Sometimes when our relationship with Him is not as solid as it should be; we have tunnel vision and can only see ahead of us, not looking back at the awesome things God has done for us.  There are times in our lives where it seems like He is far away, but all we have to do is stop and look for Him.

We see this demonstrated with Israel’s relationship with God.  The nation did not follow God and always followed idols.  God still love and was always willing to take them back.  He wanted the people to see a living example of this, so he had one of His prophets named Hosea marry a prostitute.  She was an unfaithful wife to him, even though they had children together and he bought her out of slavery.  She eventually ran away, and God commanded Hosea to go buy her back in Hosea 3.

Then the LORD said to me, “Go and love your wife again, even though she commits adultery with another lover. This will illustrate that the LORD still loves Israel, even though the people have turned to other gods and love to worship them.”  So I bought her back for fifteen pieces of silver and five bushels of barley and a measure of wine.  Then I said to her, “You must live in my house for many days and stop your prostitution. During this time, you will not have sexual relations with anyone, not even with me.” This shows that Israel will go a long time without a king or prince, and without sacrifices, sacred pillars, priests, or even idols!  But afterward the people will return and devote themselves to the LORD their God and to David’s descendant, their king. In the last days, they will tremble in awe of the LORD and of his goodness. Hosea 3 NLT

Even if we are living in sin God is always willing to take us back, and all we have to do is turn to Him.

Here are some other pics I took that day.  Enjoy.
